The month of April has been so good to me (so far)! I have so many concepts and ideas that I'm just dying to start shooting. Yesterday the crew (Kendra and Gaby) and I set out on the beautiful Pedimont Environmental Center trails to bring one of my ideas to life.
This concept was inspired by the Imagine Dragons song, "Gold", with this inspiration in mind I created the concept of the Daughter of Midas. As many of you know, Midas was a King famous in Greek Mythology for possessing the power of being able to turn everything he touched into gold. In the story however Midas realizes that this wish of his backfired horribly. The only way for him to cleanse himself of the power is to bathe in the river Pactolus. However, his daugher, does not have the river to save her. I decided to capture this problem with this concept:
As the Daughter of Midas begins to resemble her father, she remembers a warning she once heard:
"First comes the blessing of all that you've dreamed, But then comes the curses of diamonds and rings.Only at first did it have its appeal, but now you can't tell the false from the real.Who can you trust When everything, everything, everything you touch turns to gold"- "Gold" // Imagine Dragons
Once remembering this, she begins to cry tears of gold. Oh how she wishes that the Pactolus river was near ro save her. She will forever have the curse of the golden touch.
