Hello blog!
This post is super super exciting!
Needless to say, all of my elaborate plans somehow magically aligned (thank you Amazon Prime and Photography gods) and and fit into one perfect Sunday.
I am now able to happily check this "Slumber Party photoshoot" OFF of my 2017 Shoot Bucket list. Remember my collaborations list I mentioned in my last post?
Well I also have a 2017 Shoot Bucket list , shoot locations list, a lists of random Sunday sermons, probably 30 "TO-DO" lists, and several mock email templates that are now, completely irrelevant.
Totaling up to 80 complete list in my "notes" section in my iPhone.
Yeah...I guess I have a list obsession.
Anyway, forgetting my subconscious rants, let's talk about this adorable shoot, shall we?
For MONTHS...okay maybe not months exactly. It's only been two months since it's only Febuary but it's felt like SEVERAL MONTHS.*anyway side rant over*
I've had this elaborate plan to create a mini slumber party scene in my apartment with the sole purpose of the set only being used for photos. Yes, I will literally spend my time and money to create a single set that will only live for 3 hours tops because, quite frankly, I love what I do and if I don't put all of my time and energy into a shoot I don't feel like I have done the creative Photography gods any justice.
My inspirations for this shoot were early 2000s Tiger Beat magazine and 90s rom-coms that show what guys think happen at girl sleepovers, when really all we do is eat and watch movies. Which you can see my sad attempt of this explanation in the intro of my behind the scenes video, linked below.
This shoot set involved, pillow fights, feathers, dancing around the room with the windows open, and a full sized indoor tent/canopy.
This shoot is the most elaborate shoot I have ever produced. I have the tendency to dream really big when it comes to photoshoots and to some, my dreams might be too big.
But hey, whats the point of dreaming if you can't dream big?
So, my hunt for supplies began.
I was on the lookout for a handful of things:
- 2 models that were preferably best friends because the chemistry will be great and the shoot will be 1,000 times more fun
- Super cute yet casual and relaxed outfits. I spent a total of $20 on 4 different outfit pieces. So this was a major bonus and made my wallet and my shopahollic ego very happy.
- An indoor tent/canopy that didn't cost $100! THANK YOU TARGET!
- Feathers to stuff into my pillow cases. This wasn't initially on my list until I realized that feathers were actually hard to find!? Like, I could only find fluffy and airy feathers on boas that were $10 PER boa. I would have had to buy at least 3of them and then I would have had to strip all the feathers off of all of them. AKA a waste of $30. But Amazon Prime came in clutch, thank you mom.
- Cute props and random things to fill the negative space and add to a more "homey" vibe. Again THANK YOU TARGET! I could create a million shoot set ups just in their home decor section. See those super cute, glass, mason jars? Target's "$1" section. The "You Are Magical" banner? Target's party section. Candy hearts? Target's candy section. Cactus tapestry and brick wallpaper? Target's home decor section. Need I continue? **But on a serious note, ya'll get Target to sponsor me because their products also work their way into my shoots.** Okay...that wasn't that serious of a note but it needed to be said because I know we were all thinking it.

So, now that I just made another list, let's take the time to enjoy the beautiful faces of Addie and Jesse and bask in their cuteness.
I was so glad that Jesse (aka the Greenhouse Goddess) agreed to allow me to photograph her, and, as she calls it, "her ride or die" in all of their glory. I pitched the shoot idea to Jesse right after our Greenhouse shoot and she was so into it. I swear she sent Addie a message within seconds. Watching them laugh and gently hit each other with pillows during their pillow fight proved to me that they were true friends. I seriously dare you to look at the photos of these two and not smile. It's impossible because these girls have the most down to earth and genuine friendship I have ever encountered and I hope my photos showcase the positive energy their friendship radiates.
Enough babbling, onto the shoot!
Big shoutout to Alicia for assisting me! My lovely friends/assistant are lifesavers, my shoots would not be as nearly as successful without them!
I hope you all enjoyed these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them. Talk you guys soon!
Until next time xx
