Hello blog!

I finally got my hands on a Sigma 35mm 1.4 ART (temporarily) lens, so I packed my nifty 50 away for the weekend and a little fun. I rented the 35mm from Lensrentals.com, who by the way has great customer service and shipping, and got to experimenting.

...pssst

Since I have never shot at this focal length, I'd thought this shoot would be the perfect time to try something new. Usually, I let the location dictate the styling for a shoot, such as styling a model in edgy business casual for a city shoot. But this time, I let the clothing decide my locations.

I recently bought this cool yet weird mesh, light pink, dress? pullover? I don't know how to classify this piece of clothing. Even the cashier asked me how one would wear such a garment. I suggested wearing it over a body suit and she suggested wearing it as a bathing suit cover-up. I'm not sure of it's true intentions but all I know is that it has a giant green sequined star and a giant number 7 stitched onto it.
Super cool but also super weird.
But I had a vision.
There is an arboretum near by that has a baseball field home to a small stadium with pastel pink seats. As soon as I found this confusingly awesome statement piece I knew that I had to photograph the two together.

The other two outfits were also different than my usual styling as well. I tend to style dramatic and bold outfits, however these other outfits were subtle in their boldness. Nevertheless, model Alaysia made all outfits look equally amazing once she put them on. She was such a good sport for doing her makeup and outfit changes in near 90 degree weather.

This shoot consisted of a new focal length, new locations, and new styling. Oh and did I mention we took a popsicle break?
I really let my creative juices flow for this one.

Sometimes all little experimenting is all you need.
