Hello blog!

Have you ever met someone what just made you feel warm and fuzzy inside because they are just a bundle of pure joy and innocence? Well that's Angelina in a nutshell. I don't know who this girl went from a lady pretty in pink to a chill skater girl, but she did and I couldn't have asked for a better model for shoot.

Now, onto the shoot recap.

Boy do I have a story for you today.

Flash back to two weeks ago.

It's Saturday morning. Today's shoot location is a skate park. Being the avid location scouter I am, I scouted this location out about one week prior to the shoot. However, I forgot one of my most crucial steps in the scouting process: visit at different times of day on different days. It had occurred to me the night before that I forgot this step and that my visit last Tuesday will most likely be very different from my shoot on Saturday. Despite this, I went to bed trying to not get hung up on this misstep.

Something told me when I woke up on that Saturday morning that this skate park would be packed. And this intuition was right. It was P A C K E D. I don't know why I was surprised to see so many people at the park. But I did not let this get in the way of the shoot. So when we arrive, I decided that I should at least speak to the skaters who are also at the park.

I asked if they would mind if we shot in 'their' area. One guy asked how long we would be here and I said 1 hour. He then chuckled with his friend and flat out said no. Funny. I didn't know the public park belonged to them. I honestly didn't need their answer, but the fact that they said "no" made my blood boil.

Now you're probably thinking, "Alycee, why did you ask? You should have just started shooting". Yes I agree with you but in the moment I decided that asking would be the best scenario because 1) I am a decent human being and wanted to at least make my presence known since we would be sharing the space 2) I didn't want any of us to get hurt (uhh...yeah this one could not be prevented....sorry Arianna).

And that my friends is when I realzied that politeness is not always the way to go. Sometimes people are just jerks and you have to be an even bigger one.

I'm not one to complain, but when you threat the safety of my assistant, model, and me...I get angry. So shoutout to the boys who almost ran into my model's head and almost hit her several times (watch the behind the scenes video to see their attempt). You tried to intentionally ruin my photos but you actually made them better.
Also shoutout to the guys who were actually nice to us and allowed us to shared the space.

Despite the sk8r boys being jerks. This shoot was tons of fun! It felt great to step outside of my comfort zone. Having nothing but the grey pavement as my background is something I'm not used to. But, if I do say so myself, this kinda looks like a Vans promotion.

And I'm okay with that.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
