I had the most amazing birthday trip of my life. For my 20th birthday, my family surprised me with a trip to New York. Now to many, going to New York is not that big of a deal. It is one of the most popular attractions on the east coast. But for some reason, I always had this idea that I would never visit NYC. I always had this fascination with the city and seeing a Broadway show, specifically the Lion King. Every since I saw Disney Channel’s coverage of the musical when it first hit the stage, I knew that was the pulling force for me to visit New York.

But I never thought that a trip like that would be a realistic option for me. But bare with me, this weird perception is partially because I have never been on a plane before.

I am so blessed to have a family that does so much for me. Having known that New York was apart of my wild imagination, they arranged a weekend trip to New York to see, get this, THE LION KING!!! I don’t use caps lock often but its THE LION KING.
There is totally a video of me crying when my family told be about the trip.
And I can also confirm that I cried a total of 4 times during the Broadway production of The Lion King.
I also may or may not have almost cried when we rode a ferry past the Statue of Liberty.
Oh yeah, did I mention that our hotel was in the middle of Time Square?

I felt like I had the whole New York experience in less than 72 hours.

Its such a weird experience seeing widely known landmarks/attractions in person. It was truly and out-of-body sensation that’s really hard to explain.
My worries and academic stress were no longer a lingering occurrence.
Throughout the trip I had this feeling of euphoric weightlessness.
The blue sky was a welcoming sign.
The way the sun played hide-and-seek with the buildings was amusing.
While the wind from the top of the double decker bus was crisp and comforting, and almost, familiar.

If you couldn’t tell from my ambiguous description, I would LOVE to visit the city again.

 ...pssst
