As clique as it may sound, I have always loved the sky. Throughout my life, whenever I was stressed or worried, I would go and walk outside and look up at the sky. As if I was in a movie, I can be a fairly dramatic person at times but I guess that's what I get for signing up for drama every year in high school.
Rather it's the vast and relentless cotton candy clouds, or the luminous twilight. The sky is a magically place and it has always kept me at ease.

So, naturally, when I got the opportunity to photograph the sky with some friends, I couldn't say no.
Despite the fact I did not have my tripod, I was frustrated with my lack of experience with nighttime photography, and my child-like fear of the dark, I enjoyed my time being one with the sky. And add the backlights from a jeep to the peaceful sky, and you've got the perfect equation.

While editing these photos I got a bit nostalgic. Looking at these photos causes me to reflect on my journey as a photographer. 15 year old me would have not believed it if you old her that she will go on to take these photos. In 2013 all I had was a simple point-and-shoot camera, big ideas, and little faith in myself and my capabilities. Sometimes it's great to step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself, no matter how nerve racking it may be and not matter how little confidence you have. It's how you grow.

Until next time,
