Hello blog!

Today I decided to go out and take some self portraits. I've been itching to get more creative as 2016 draws to an end and I've really been inspired by the work of Jessica Kobeissi so I decided to give her high fashion/editorial style a go.
I grabbed my trusty tripod, threw on my purple eyeshadow and matching lipstick, put on my new favorite holographic/sliver skirt and paired it with my wonderful long sleeve mesh top, drove 3 minutes down the street to my favorite field, and set-up.
I honestly had no idea how these photos were going to turn out. I just remember that I felt super awkward trying to get as much movement as possible to show up in the photo.
Needless to say, I was pleasantly surprised when I got home and scrolled through the photos to see some pretty sick images. I love how carefree and effortless they look when, quite frankly, they took a lot of work. A lot of trial and error and a lot of disappointment but the end result couldn't have been better.
I experiments for hours in Lightroom until I felt that my edit looked almost exactly like one of my favorite mobile VSCOCam filters. The muted purple compliments the blown-out slivers while giving the blacks a magenta undertone. The eerie blacks contrast beautifully with the bare tree branches in the background. A total film meets fashion moment.

I hope to be able to experiment a lot more in 2017! I have like a million photo ideas in store for you all.
