Hello blog!

Today's post is not your average photography post, but don't worry, this post will still be filled with beautiful images.

Today's post is all about my trip to...(wait for it)....the Bahamas!!! I have never been out of the southern part of the United States before. Or on a boat. So this trip was two for two!

...pssst
I'm so thankful for this experience and I couldn't help but share it with you guys.

Now let's talk about boats. The iconic lyric from The 1975's Loving Someone comes to mind. It says: "If it were safe on the ground we wouldn't be on a boat".
Matty Healy had a point with that one.

And I'm not going to lie, my anxiety was through the roof our first few hours on the ship.  And the safety briefing really didn't help. Alarms, sirens, and thousands of people crowed together on one side of the ship. All I could think about was the Titanic.
Yes, I know. Very impractical and irrational but what did you expect? I've only been on solid proud my whole life! Nevertheless after starting over the railing into the deep blue ocean really helped calm my nerves. Next thing I knew, we were in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. Like literally in the middle of it. All of my iPhone photos from the cruise have the location: The Atlantic Ocean. Super cool and bizarre all at the same time. But I'm sure cruise ships account for all of this nervousness as they have an endless supply of events and food. A water park, a pool (singular...yes that is my only complaint), hot tubs, mini golf, a casino, and more. Who has time for anxiety when you can indulge in sweet nothings!
That was totally supposed to be both sarcastic and cynical, in case you didn't catch that.

As my anxiety faded another evil came out. Motion sickness. I could feel the boat move. I physically lost my balance multiple times just by walking a few feet. The only thing that made me feel better was staring out the window and focusing on the water flowing by. However, I seemed to be the only one in my party that felt this way, so this wish was not granted very often.

While the boat was fun, it's obvious that the main attraction was our day spent on the island of Nassau. In all my 20 years of being alive and countless trips to the beach, I have never seen water so clear and I have never sand so soft. It's true what they say about the Bahamas. It is paradise. Swimming in the ocean along with the little guppies and other sea-life living harmoniously in the water was an experience I will never forget. We did get caught in a serious tropical downpour but our hours relaxing and creating memories was long lived.

I'm so thankful that I have had the opportunity to see and experience things many people spend their lives dreaming about.
