Today's shoot is a really good one so before we start let's get the self-promotion outta the way.

Now that's over with, let's break down this shoot.
This shoot wasn't originally going to be an "Inspired By" shoot. But I realized how much inspiration I took form Ben's work that I decided to give credit where credit is due.
I have always been intrigued by Ben's ability to capture emotion while pushing the creative boundaries of what's weird. Ben focused a lot on anatomy and the human gaze, so decided to take these characteristics and work them into my own shooting style.

The day of the "Enchanted Forest" photoshoot pretty hectic. We had been fighting the rain, I was running behind, and we had 3 models to get clothing and makeup on. But having a great group of models did the trick. Working with Kaelin during that shoot was quite easy. She takes direction extremely well and up for just about anything when it comes to getting the perfect shot. So after this shoot, I knew that I wanted to do a solo shoot with her.
I actually created this shoot concept back when I was studying abroad in Canada. I probably was the grey sky and cold air that inspired me to manifest such a cool toned shoot.
Anyway, I'm pretty sure the first time I met Kaelin she was laughing and beaming with enthusiasm, so I wanted to take that memory and turn it into something tangible. She also has a very calming and soothing aura. Just take a look at her Instagram and you'll see what I mean. Aside from her beautiful appearance Kaelin pretty much she exudes positivity. I mean her car literally broke down minutes before the shoot and she still kept a level head all day.
For this shoot, I wanted to somehow capture Kaelin's optimism and tranquility into one. when I look at these images, the blue tones of the styling paired with the soft natural light creates euphoric energy. It's a very centered feeling, that I believe matching Kaelin perfectly. I mean you have to have some kind of strong inner balance to be able to bend like this girl.
